ABSTRACT

Aims One of the research topics considered at the martyr foundation and veterans’ affairs is social capital. The aim of this study was to meta-analytically examine the social capital research in the Iranian martyr foundation and veterans’ affairs.
Materials & Methods n the present review research, 7 research studies, conducted on the social capital of employees and individuals supported by the martyr foundation and veterans’ affairs, were examined by the qualitative meta-analysis method.
Findings Regarding knowledge, social trust, and norms, the results of the foundation's research studies were in line with general research studies. The low level of trust in society, the decrease in the level of social relations with the neighboring system and kinship system, the low level of institutional trust, especially trust in political and governmental actors, and the low level of social participation of young people did not have a significant difference with the normal society. Regarding the formal partnership and institutional trust, the mean scores of the target community in foundation were higher than the general level, and in the case of communication networks and informal support, the mean scores of the target community in foundation were lower than the general level.
Conclusion The social capital of individuals supported by the foundation is consistent with general research in the components such as knowledge, social trust, and norms. Also, the low level of trust in society, the decrease in the level of social relations with the neighboring system and kinship system, the low level of institutional trust, especially trust in political and governmental actors, and the low level of social participation of young people did not have a significant difference with the normal society. Formal partnership and institutional trust of the target community in the foundation is higher than the general level and communication networks and the informal support of the target community is lower than the general level.
