ABSTRACT

Aims Anxiety in driving situations is a potential cause of accidents. Emotional training can reduce the severity of this social discomfort. The purpose of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of treatment based on emotion regulation on women who are applicants for driving license.
Materials & Methods This semi-experimental research was carried out with pre-test, post-test and follow-up design in all women applying for driving license in Isfahan, Iran, in the summer of 2015. The number of participants in this study was 30 people who were selected by available sampling method from the people referred to the driving schools of the city. The Beck Anxiety Inventory was used for collecting data. The experimental group was subjected to therapeutic sessions based on emotional regulation. Differences created after the implementation of treatment sessions were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance with SPSS 18 software.
Findings The changes in women anxiety scores from pre-test to post-test and follow up among groups were significantly different (p=0.0001). The effect of group membership on the changes in women anxiety scores from pre-test to post-testing and follow-up was 0.3 which means that 0.3 of changes in anxieties were regarding to treatment therapy based on emotion regulation.
Conclusion the treatment based on emotion regulation on women who are applicants for driving license is effective.
