BRIEF TEXT

… [1, 2]. In order to transfer the culture of warriors and martyrdom to the next generations and to honor their warriors, The Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs is devoted to organizing the martyrs' graveyards throughout the country. ... [3]. Regarding the actions taken in Golestan province, this fact must be manifested that through these measures, the consent of the people, especially the veterans and families of the martyrs, should be increased to the process of action taken to increase the honor of martyrs and their graves [4].

The research carried out in terms of martyrs' graveyards can be divided in two parts: A) Studying the theoretical and practical patterns regarding the martyrs' graveyards that in this domain, recognition of Iranian-Islamic architectures such as domes, arch and arches, minarets and decorations including tile work, knot work, mirror work, mogharnas and plaster work have been studied. Also, this studies have focused on the theoretical investigations of the success in designing the graveyard of the martyrs of Islamic and non-Islamic countries and even the cemeteries of other countries and compared them with the martyrs' graveyards in our Islamic country. B) Investigating the satisfaction level of martyrs' graveyards organizing project, which has often been conducted in a survey-descriptive studies, as well as the level of satisfaction among the families of martyrs and other classes of society, along with the comparison and expression of their differences. Another point in the earlier research is that most of the martyrs' families have shown a tendency toward organizing graveyards, and especially those of martyrs, and they have considered this issue as necessary action for the preservation and survival of Islamic values and Iranian culture. In addition, people in the society also endorse this action.

In general, according to the issues raised, the fundamental question of this research is that “how much do the warriors are satisfied with the project of organizing Golestan Province martyrs' graveyards?” Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the satisfaction level of warriors of the method of organizing martyrs' graveyards.

This descriptive study was conducted through survey and documentation.

This research was conducted in 2012 among all warriors of three cities of Gorgan, Bandar-e-Turkaman and Aliabad Katoul in 12331 people.

According to the statistical population of the study, for determining the sample size, the Cochran logical formula was used and the sample size calculated was 372 consecutively. For selection of samples, a proportional stratified random sampling was used.

The research instrument was a demographic questionnaire and a research-made questionnaire to assess the satisfaction level of warriors from the way of organizing martyrs' graveyards. In this questionnaire, the component of satisfaction of the warriors with the physical arrangement of the martyrs' graveyards was evaluated with three indicators: the satisfaction of the architecture of the arrangement of the martyrs' graveyards (with 11 items), the satisfaction of the facilities in the martyrs' graveyards (with 10 items), and the satisfaction of the used materials in martyrs' graveyards (with 8 items) as well as the two components of honoring martyrs by implementing this project (with 6 items) and evaluating the type of feeling of community of warriors about the reorganization of the martyrs' graveyards (with 9 items). The scoring for each of components and indices were based on the Likert scale and was considered from zero to four. The validity of the questionnaire was determined by using the face validity and the reliability of the questionnaires was determined by Cronbach alpha coefficients. To this end, 34 questionnaires were completed by the target society and the Cronbach alpha coefficients for components and indicators of the questionnaire were obtained from 0.80 to 0.82. The results of the calculations of the Cronbach Alpha coefficient indicate the fact that the used tool has an acceptable reliability. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients and Spearman, independent t-test and one-way ANOVA.

The mean age of the studied variables was 48.6±5.22 years. Of these, 148 (27.7%) were female and 245 (62.3%) were male. The satisfaction rate of 73.6% of the studied warriors from the architecture of the arrangement of graveyard, 50.1% of the facilities in the graveyards, 74.5% of the materials used in the graveyards, 74.0% of physical organization of the graveyards, and 69.9% of the rate of the honoring the position of martyrs were due to the implementation of the plan were “high” and “very high”. Also, the type of feeling of the 49.8% of the warriors regarding reorganization of the martyrs' graveyards were evaluated positive and completely positive. Considering the difference between the calculated mean from the hypothetical mean (2.5 out of 4), the warriors community of Golestan province had satisfaction with the architecture, used materials, physical arrangement, and the degree of honor to the martyrs (p<0.05). However, they did not have any satisfaction with the facilities in the martyrs' graveyards (p>0.05). Also, the society of warriors had negative feeling about reorganization of the martyrs' graveyards (p=0.0001; Table 1). There was no relationship between the age and monthly income level of the studied warriors and the three components of physical satisfaction with the organization of martyrs' graveyards, the effect of organization project on the increasing the honor of martyrs and the type of feeling about the reorganization of martyrs' graveyards (p>0.05). However, significant reverse relationship was observed between the variable of level education with three variables of physical satisfaction (r=-0.121), the effectiveness on the honor of martyrs (r=-0.149), and type of feeling to reorganization of the martyrs' graveyards (r=-0.132). Gender variable caused no significance difference in the evaluation of the three variables (p>0.05). However, the variables of birth place and type of religion caused a significant difference in their evaluation (p<0.05). The variable of marital status caused a difference in the respondents 'assessment of the physical satisfaction variable with the arrangement of the martyrs' graveyards and the type of their feelings about the reorganization of the graveyards (p<0.05). However, it did not make a significance difference in the evaluation of the respondents to the variable of effectiveness of the project on the honor of the martyrs. Also, the respondents 'status variable, significantly contributed to respondents' assessment of the effectiveness of the plan of organizing the martyrs' graveyards on the honor of the martyrs (p<0.05). However, it did not significantly contribute to respondents' assessment of their physical satisfaction with the organizing project of the graveyards (p>0.05). The variable of place of habitation also caused a difference in respondents' assessment of the three studied variables (p <0.05).

The research carried out on the level of satisfaction of the family of martyrs and other sectors of the people with the organization of the martyrs' graveyards has been very limited. However, some studies have been conducted on: recognition and introduction of the architectural design of Iranian-Islamic climate architecture and the criteria for its use in designing and organizing martyrs' graveyards [5], the status of the organization of the martyrs' graveyards and its relationship with the satisfaction of the families of the martyrs in Semnan Province [6], reviewing the views of the great martyrs' family and other people on how to preserve and organize the martyrs' graveyards and turning them into cultural centers [7], study of theoretical model and practical solution for the design of martyrs' graveyards based on martyrs' graveyards in the Islamic countries [8], comparative study on the satisfaction of the martyrs' families and people with the organizing of martyrs' graveyards in Mazandaran province [9], the study of the factors affecting the job satisfaction of the staff in the foundation of the martyrs [10], and the evaluation of the satisfaction of veterans with the welfare services of the foundation and its relationship with individual and social factors of the veterans [11].

It is suggested that the officials and planners of the organization plan try more with respect to three parameters of satisfaction of physical organization (satisfaction with architecture, used materials, and available facilities), and by creating suitable facilities, provide the grounds for increasing the satisfaction of the warriors with the martyrs' graveyards. It is also recommended that officials and planners pay more attention to the reorganization of the martyrs' graveyards in the habitants of the sunni areas. Because in Golestan province due to the lack of necessary credit allocation, so far, no practical action has been taken to implement the third phase and completion of the graveyards, it is suggested that authorities and planners take action on the financing of the project and completion of the plan. Also, considering the fact that the studied society of warriors, despite the relative satisfaction with the physical organization of the graveyards, do not feel positive about the above project, it is suggested that the officials and planners of the Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs, by presenting appropriate training, provide the platform for raising the level of awareness of the warriors community in order to provide a basis for changing the attitude and feeling of the warriors society toward the organization of the graveyards and thus increase their satisfaction with the plan.

Of the limitations of this study, low level of respondent cooperation due to frequent referral of student and researchers to them, and the low level of cooperation of the provincial authorities and staffs due to lack of information, etc. can be mentioned.

Despite the satisfaction of the studied warriors with the physical organization of the martyrs' graveyards, they do not have a positive feeling for the implementation of this plan, and this negative feeling is more in Sunni ones compared to Shia people.

Thanks and appreciation to all those who helped us with this research.
